Rationale<\/strong><\/th>\nThe aim of this module is to allow students to produce an extended piece of work which is more independent of formal teaching than other modules and requires a longer and more sustained effort. It allows the study of one area of History in depth, using research and working methods appropriate to the chosen subject. It will necessarily involve considerable engagement with the relevant secondary material as well as detailed analysis of primary sources.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Description of Initiative<\/strong><\/th>\nAll students have access to an individual supervisor but in addition to this there are two workshops during the year which cover issues such as time management, research skills and writing up; students are also encouraged to visit on-line resources both in-house and through the shared bookmarking site Del.icio.us . There is also a Frequently Asked Questions WIKI on the VLE where students can post and answer questions. This is monitored by the module tutor and questions which come through other means such as e-mail and one-to-ones are also posted and answered here.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
